Announcements for Tue. 4/24/2018

  • To promote Autism Awareness, here is another fact about Autism.  Autism now affects 1 in 68 children and boys are four times more likely to have Autism than girls.  Look around the school building to find other interesting facts about autism.
  • SCA applications for the 2018-2019 school year are due this morning.  Turn them in ASAP!
  • Stem Robotics will meet today in the Stem Lab. E-portfolios are due.
  • Chess Club is cancelled this week.  Again, no Chess Club this week.
  • Attention 8th graders, the ATC has a few seats left in their rising 9th grade summer camp! Join the Advanced Technology Center for a hands-on STEM experience, and get to know some of their amazing teachers.  Contact Mrs. Filio or the ATC today to reserve your spot!
  • The Ocean Lakes Dance Team tryout dates are Friday, May 11th from 5 pm to 7:30 pm and Saturday, May 12th from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. Both days will be held in the Gym Foyer. Check the posted flyers around the building for details.
  • School Library Month continues!  This is our last week!
  • So far, our closest guess on how many books are in the CLMS library is 20,000. Come up and enter your guess and see if you can come closer.  We won’t tell you if there are more or less!
  • In addition to all of our other activities and contests, try BookFace Selfie Contest. Search for a book cover that best matches your face from our book choices and then pose for a bookface photo selfie.  Email it to your librarian and you will be eligible to win a prize!  Check out the scary display in the library!
  • Every student that participates in one of the Library Month activities will have their name entered for a special drawing at the end of the month.  So keep participating and increase your chances of winning!
  • And remember the Book Exchange tomorrow.  Bring in some books to swap with others from now through tomorrow and get a ticket to return during refuel tomorrow to choose free books!

  • Happy Earth Day everyone!  Thanks for wearing your Earth Day shirts and honoring Mother Earth.  Don’t forget to sign the pledge!
  • Stem Robotics will meet tomorrow in the Stem Lab. E-portfolios are due at this meeting.
  • SCA applications for the 2018-2019 school year are available in the main office.  Positions include:  president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, historian, and executive board member. All applications are due at 9:00 am tomorrow, April 24th. Join the SCA and make a difference!
  • Sign-up sheets for the first annual Military Kid Ice-cream Social are on each counselor’s door. Sign up by the end of the day to participate on Thursday, April 26th, in the atrium after school.  All military students should have received an invitation.
  • School Library Month continues!  This is our last week!

  • The Advanced Technology Center’s Open House is on Tuesday, January 5th at 5:30pm. If you want to find out how to take classes on a college campus while in high school, then please attend. Questions, see your school counselor.

  • 8th grade writers, authors, and poets! The CLMS 8th grade Writing Club will meet today afterschool in Room C17. All interested 8th graders are welcome.
  • Attention 8th grade students.  IF you are interested in working on your academy application, come to room D18 today during your Refuel.  Please check in with your Refuel teacher first.
  • The Christmas Dr. Who club will meet today after school. 
  • There will be no Running Club until Tuesday, January 5th.  Run or walk on your own over the holiday break!
